Charles Phillips goes from Oracle to Infor and Hurd from HP to Oracle
After some rumors in the IT industry, Charles Phillips, Oracle Co-President during the last 7 years, has been confirmed to head the Georgia based Infor Global Solutions. He takes over Jim Schaper who moves on to become Infor’s board chairman where he can concentrate on the company’s strategic directions. Jim will also serve as an operating partner at Golden Gate Capital, Infor’s main shareholder.
Infor may not be as large Oracle leadership in a smaller company like Infor Global Solutions, you have another formula for success. After tripling Oracle’s growth and helping to engineer a highly rewarding acquisition of various software companies that included Hyperion, BEA Systems and Siebel systems during his tenure, Charles will now have to match or exceed the 59% annual growth rate left by former Infor CEO Jim Schaper who will now oversee its strategic directions as Chairman of the Board. Charles Phillips Oracle to Infor move is expected to solidify Infor’s gains and propel its next phase of growth with the release of its next generation application suites more aligned with Microsoft technologies this time.
Infor develops software that includes ERP solutions now considered the 3rd largest in the world, after Oracle and SAP. Charles Phillips Oracle stint may be short, having started only in 2003, but his background as an IT person goes farther back when he served as Managing Director covering the IT sector for Morgan Stanley. He is a true blue IT person when you consider he holds a BS in Computer Science from the US Air Force Academy. He also has an MBA major in Finance and Marketing from the Hampton University.
